Peyton Bowen scored a pair of touchdowns to lead the Crownover Cowboys to a 32-0 season-opening shutout of the McMath Tigers on Wednesday night in eighth-grade A-team action.

Bowen scored on runs of 7 and 77 yards, while Bryson Riggs scored on a 58-yard run and Sutton Lee caught a 52-yard pass from Blake Courtney. Ivan Pena was good on four extra point kicks.

Seventh grade

Harpool ‘A’ 13, Strickland 6

Jett Boling caught a pair of touchdown passes as the Harpool Longhorns rallied to defeat the Strickland Vikings.

Boling caught a 7-yard scoring toss from Max Hornsby and later grabbed a 12-yard TD pass from Kegan Stelmazewski.

Hornsby hit five of nine pass attempts for 102 yards, while Stelmazewski had 10 rushes for 45 yards. Boling hauled in seven receptions for 135 yards.

Harpool ‘B’ 13, Strickland 12

Kyle Nichols dashed 40 yards as time expired to give the Harpool Longhorns a come-from-behind victory over Strickland.

Nichols also scored Harpool’s earlier TD.

Little Elm ‘A’ 35, Navo 0

The Navo Panthers couldn’t crack a strong Little Elm defense.

Running back Reymundo Izaguirre led the Panther offense with 88 yards on 15 carries, while Wyatt Payne led the defense with six tackles and CJ Inejiowu had five tackles.

Little Elm ‘B’ 35, Navo 0

Navo linebacker David Rodriquez had six tackles, two for losses, as Navo fell to Little Elm.

Crownover ‘B’ 32, McMath 14

Brandon Flores scored on two long touchdown runs to lead the Crownover Cowboys to victory over McMath.

Flores scored on runs of 47 and 36 yards, Austin Brown scored on an 18-yard run and Clayton Williams dashed 31 yards for a TD. Hawk Bowers hit Blayne Avery with an 18-yard scoring toss and passed to Merrick DeReamer for the conversion. Jack Hickerson had a PAT run.

Gianni Franco was a standout for the Crownover defense.
