Texas Woman’s University has been tabbed to finish seventh in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll released Monday.
Tarleton State was picked as the top choice in the poll. The Lady Texans won the LSC championship in 2018 and went on to win the South Central Regional title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history with a 32-5 overall record and a 19-1 LSC mark.
Texas A&M-Commerce, the defending LSC tournament champions, was picked second with a pair of top votes and 755 points.
Angelo State was third with 717 points and two first-place nods, while West Texas A&M was fourth (628), University of Arkansas-Fort Smith fifth (586 and one top vote), Lubbock Christian sixth (550), Texas Woman’s seventh (526) and Texas A&M-Kingsville eighth (479).
The Pioneers open the 2019 season on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kansas. TWU will begin Lone Star Conference action on Sept. 20 at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
