PONDER — The Ponder Lady Lions had a big night as they were able to put an end to their two-game skid with a win against the No. 10 Bowie Lady Jackrabbits 21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-22.
Ponder’s Sterling Wilkinson had a phenomenal game with 10 kills, 16 digs and one block, while Averee Tipton had 48 assists to help lead the way.
The Lady Lions will be one of many area teams that will head to Nocona for tournament play starting this Thursday.
Krum defeats reigning state champ Callisburg
KRUM — The Lady Bobcats are on a roll. Krum won their eighth consecutive match after sweeping Callisburg 25-11, 25-13, 25-12.
Callisburg, the defending Class 3A state champions, has struggled to gain its footing in the early part of the season. Krum, which moved up to No. 7 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 4A rankings on Monday, had no problem putting away the Lady Wildcats throughout the night.
Reese Robinson led the Krum offense with 16 kills. Madeline and Miranda Guffy also combined for 33 assists on the night.
The Lady Bobcats will continue nondistrict play Friday at Ryan.
Pilot Point recovers from slow start to defeat Blue Ridge
BLUE RIDGE — Even though they didn’t get off to a great start, the Lady Bearcats were able to storm back and take the last three sets to defeat Blue Ridge 25-27, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.
The Lady Bearcats were led statistically by Alyssa David with 30 kills and Shelby Malone with 29 digs.
The Lady Bearcats will look to keep building on their modest three-game winning streak as they travel to take on Celina this Friday.
Calvary handles Lady Tigers with ease
The Trenton Lady Tigers were no match for Calvary on Tuesday night as they were swept in three sets.
The Lady Lions will continue forward to Nocona this Thursday for tournament play.
