The Texas Girls Coaches Association released its all-state volleyball teams Wednesday night, and 11 Denton-area athletes were honored in their classifications.
Argyle led the way with three players at the Class 4A level, as Mariah Hesselgesser, Paxton McGlinch and Kassidy Reeves earned all-state honors.
Hesselgesser had 341 kills, 123 blocks and 56 digs and was the District 8-4A blocker of the year, while McGlinch (337 kills, 426 digs, 29 blocks, 29 aces) was the district’s hitter of the year and Reeves (874 assists, 369 digs, 53 kills, 50 aces) was setter of the year.
Sanger, which outlasted every other area program by advancing to the 4A Region II final, had two players — Gabbi Roelofs (334 kills, 98 digs) and Kenzie Turkoly (256 kills, 780 assists, 402 digs, 57 aces) — earn all-state honors.
Roelofs and Turkoly were first-team selections in District 11-4A for their roles in the Lady Indians’ historic season.
Aubrey’s Kaia Saylor was a 4A all-state selection after leading the area with 598 kills, 71 blocks, 490 digs and 40 aces. Saylor, who has committed to TWU, powered the Lady Chaparrals (27-15) to the second round of the playoffs before the team fell to Kennedale.
Kylee Anderson, the District 9-3A libero of the year, was a Class 3A all-state selection. Anderson led Ponder to a 33-12 record as the Lady Lions advanced to the third round of the playoffs for the second time in three years.
In TAPPS Class 6A, Liberty Christian’s Ella Marr and Madison Morrow were second-team all-state selections and Kiley Goodrum received honorable mention.
Calvary’s Cara Pool was second-team all-state in TAPPS Class 3A.
