The court at the Super Pit will feature a large eagle logo with an outline of Texas underneath next season.
North Texas fans chose the design through an online poll. The school announced the results of the vote Thursday.
Another option had a UNT flag covering the entire court.
The third option featured McConnell Tower on one sideline with a beam of green light rising toward center court. UNT students gather at McConnell Tower following wins to see it illuminated in green light. The practice is one of UNT athletics’ longstanding traditions.
The eagle-themed court was the most conventional of the three options. It mirrors the design at Apogee Stadium, UNT’s home football venue, where the field also has a UNT eagle logo over the shape of Texas.
Other colleges have unveiled courts with more unconventional designs in recent years.
Florida International, one of UNT’s rivals in Conference USA, has a court painted with a beach theme. San Jose State’s court features five Spartans lined up on one sideline.
UNT is unveiling its new court at a time when both men’s and women’s basketball teams are improving and are looking to bolster their following.
The UNT women advanced to the championship game of the Women’s Basketball Invitational last season, while the UNT men are coming off back-to-back seasons with at least 20 wins. The Mean Green men won the College Basketball Invitational at the end of the 2017-18 season.
