FORT WORTH — Argyle took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second but lost to Godley 12-10 on Thursday in Game 1 of a Class 4A first-round playoff series at Fort Worth Brewer.

Argyle took its early lead with a two-run single by Ainsley Cindric followed by another single by Hailey Clark to drive in Cindric.

Godley answered with a quick 11 runs over two innings, and despite a strong comeback attempt, the Lady Eagles were not able to close the gap by the end of the game.

Abby Williams led Argyle from the plate, going 4-for-5, including a three-run triple in the top of the sixth to close within two runs. Cindric finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Grace Rash went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Lanie Rodgers was in the circle with three strikeouts in the loss.

Argyle will face Godley again Friday at 7 p.m. at Brewer.

Glen Rose 13, Krum 9

KRUM — After giving up two home runs in the top of the first, Krum struggled to close the gap in a Class 4A playoff opener.

Despite scoring eight late runs to make the score 11-9 going into the seventh inning, Krum was not able to complete the comeback after giving up two home runs in the top of the seventh.

Kennedy Brooks was in the circle for the Lady Bobcats with 10 strikeouts in just over four innings pitched. Lindsay Beutnagel led the hitting effort, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Faith Butler went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Krum will play at Glen Rose at Saturday at 11 a.m.

PILOT POINT — Pilot Point fell behind in the top of the third on a three-run double and dropped a Class 3A playoff opener.

Pilot Point’s Christine Billmeier had 10 strikeouts in six innings pitched, and Brooke Lane, Bailey Stewart, Maiah Morris and Skylar Simmel each had one hit for the Lady Bearcats.

Pilot Point will play at Bonham at Friday at 7 p.m.
