After leading the Argyle boys to the regional tournament and scoring 28 goals as a senior, Connor Banar was the only Denton-area soccer player to draw first-team all-state honors from the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches.
Banar’s younger brother, Kyle Banar, was a second-team all-state selection at the Class 4A level, and Tyler Debruin earned honorable mention for his role in the Eagles’ success.
The Banar brothers and Debruin were three of six area players to earn all-state honors. Julian Fernandez (Lake Dallas) and Orlando Castro (Lake Dallas) were second-team picks in Class 5A, while Argyle’s Ti Krumme received 4A honorable mention on the girls side.
In addition to the six all-state honorees, 13 area players took home all-region awards from the association.
Carter Dodson (Argyle) and Anthony Patti (Lake Dallas) were first-team all-region selections, and Brock Pope, another key part of the Falcons’ run to the 5A Region II final, took all-region honorable mention.
The Guyer girls had three players earn first-team all-region honors — Olivia Ramirez, Ashley Carter and Taylor Hunter. Argyle’s Riley Webster and Lilly Coleman also were first-team picks.
On the second-team all-region team, the Denton girls led the way with three selections. Emily Williamson, Zoe Hensley and Madi Autwell were honored, as were Argyle’s Emma Sheehan and Guyer’s Allie Lyons.
