Quarterback Wyatt Smith threw three touchdown passes, two to wide receiver Steven Richardson, as the Navo Panthers edged Strickland 20-18 Tuesday night in eighth-grade A-team action.

Smith finished the night with 215 passing yards, had TDs of 28 and 35 yards to Richardson and connected with Dylan Burnham on a 45-yard scoring strike. Marc Ibarra added two extra points.

Leading Navo (2-0) on defense were Chris Cambridge with eight tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble and Blake Fann with seven tackles and two pass deflections.

Navo ‘B’ 12, Strickland 7

Pedram Sheikh and Marco Martinez led the way as Navo defeated Strickland.

Sheikh scored on a 33-yard run, and Martinez returned an interception 56 yards to complete the scoring for the Panthers (1-1). Elijah Brunner had seven tackles, three sacks and one fumble recovery and Nehemiah McCain had five tackles to lead the Navo defense.

Rodriguez ‘A’ 36, Calhoun 0

Ben Moore returned an interception for a touchdown and scored another TD on a 14-yard run as the Rodriguez Vipers rolled to a shutout win over Calhoun.

Quarterback Keegan Byrd passed for 100 yards and two touchdowns — a 40-yard strike to Dylan Smith and a 46-yard throw to Bryson Cornelious — as the Vipers improved to 1-1. Dongju Shin was a standout on special teams and hit six of seven extra points.

Rodriguez ‘B’ 12, Calhoun 0

Jaden Elliott scored on runs of 55 and 13 yards as the Navo Panthers (1-1) shut out Calhoun.

Elliott finished with 100 yards rushing, while Jeven Green and Troy Konvalin led the Panther defense.

Harpool ‘A’ 34, McMath 0

Jackson Arnold ran for two TDs and threw for one as the Harpool Longhorns defeated the McMath Tigers.

Arnold had scoring runs of 22 and 54 yards and passed to Zach Boland for a 42-yard touchdown as Harpool improved to 2-0. Jackson Moore scored on a 25-yard run, and Christian Klein hit Brayden Jewell with a TD pass. Cam Pasada added two extra points.

Blade Carver led the Harpool defense with an interception.

Crownover ‘A’ 29, Little Elm 0

Peyton Bowen scored on a 37-yard run, a 51-yard punt return and a 6-yard TD pass from Blake Courtney as the Crownover Cowboys (2-0) raced past Little Elm.

Andrew Coplin got in on the scoring onslaught when he blocked a punt and returned it 5 yards for a TD. Ivan Pena hit two extra points, and Sutton Lee passed to Jordan McGee for a 1-point conversion.

Myers ‘A’ 26, Lake Dallas 0

Khalon Davis passed for 120 yards and Kalib Hicks rushed for 100 yards as the Myers Titans rolled to victory over Lake Dallas.

Davis had a 2-yard TD run, Hicks scored on a 5-yard run, Jaavonne Jones scored on a 5-yard run and Kyler Spencer returned a fumble 50 yards for a score for the Titans (2-0).

Myers ‘B’ 14, Lake Dallas 6

Brady Quillin scored on a 10-yard run and hit Tre Bernard with a 35-yard TD pass as Myers (2-0) slipped past Lake Dallas.

Seventh grade

Strickland ‘A’ 27, Navo 0

The Strickland Vikings combined a strong offensive effort with a solid defensive performance in their win over the Navo Panthers.

Reymundo Izaguirre led Navo (0-2) with 74 yards rushing on 10 carries, and Louis Green had six tackles and two sacks.

Navo ‘B’ 13, Strickland 0

The Navo Panthers evened their record at 1-1 with a shutout of Strickland.

David Rodriguez scored on a 30-yard run and had a 1-point conversion run, while Jayden Bowie added a 12-yard TD run. Carmen Ward led the Navo defense with four tackles and one interception.

Harpool ‘A’ 34, McMath 0

Max Hornsby had touchdown runs of 18 and 22 yards to lead the Harpool Longhorns to a shutout win over McMath.

Kegan Stelmazewski had a 55-yard scoring run, Caleb Rowe scored on a 17-yard run and Aiden Montgomery returned an interception 42 yards for a score as the Longhorns improved to 2-0. Jett Boling also had a interception and Diego Schoolcraft had a fumble recovery to lead the defense.

Leading McMath (0-2) were Trey Bates with 40 rushing yards and five tackles on defense, TJ Ray with 35 rushing yards and a crucial defensive play to prevent a touchdown and Sam Alvarez with an interception to halt a Harpool drive.

Harpool ‘B’ 38, McMath 6

Kyle Nichols had four touchdown runs as the Harpool Longhorns (2-0) overwhelmed McMath.

Garrett Kraushaar and Cal Nix added TD runs, and Anthony Skitt passed to Evan Flores and Luca Djukic for PAT conversions.

Aiden Anderson scored McMath’s (0-2) TD on a 70-yard run. Misael Galaviz led the McMath defense with several tackles.

Calhoun 32, Rodriguez 12

Lamarques Robinson scored four touchdowns and rushed for 216 yards on 12 carries as the Calhoun Cougars overwhelmed the Rodriguez Vipers.

Robinson had scoring runs of 25, 44, 10 and 44 yards while TaiShaun Livingston opened the scoring for the Cougars with a 99-yard kickoff return on the opening kickoff. Livingston had three kickoff returns for 187 yards. Harley Silva, Jakob Vardas and John Carter led Calhoun (1-1) in tackles while Dionicio McIntire had two interceptions and Christopher Contreras had a fumble recovery/

Rodriguez (0-2) got its touchdowns on a 60-yard run by Andrew Grissom and a 6-yard run from Elijah Taylor. Zion Clemons, David Lastovica and Jaykob Bandfield starred on defense.

Lake Dallas ‘A’ 16, Myers 6

Joel Grooms returned an interception for a touchdown as Myers came up short against Lake Dallas.

Myers also lost the B-team game, falling 6-2.
