Jackson Arnold ran for two touchdowns and threw for one as the Harpool eighth-grade “A” team rolled to a 32-14 victory over the McMath Tigers on Tuesday night.
Arnold, who finished with 140 yards rushing and was 6-of-8 passing for 153 yards, scored on runs of 14 and 43 yards and connected with Josh Lumsden on a 43-yard scoring pass. Anthony Benford scored on a 3-yard run and Cam Posada hit four extra points to complete the scoring for the Longhorns, now 3-1.
Mike Kanu, Zach Boland, Brayden Jewell and Ethan Etter also were standouts for the Harpool offense.
Navo (3-1) got its touchdowns on a 70-yard kickoff return by Jacob Elder and Steven Richardson’s 30-yard reception from quarterback Ty Bartlett. On defense, Damajal Brown had eight solo tackles, four sacks and forced two fumbles. Josh Jackson had one interception and deflected two passes.
Navo ‘B’ 2, Harpool 0
Navo linebacker Abdi Said tackled a Harpool player for a safety to give the Panthers a victory over the Longhorns.
The Navo defense also was led by James Burrows with four tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble and Elijah Brunner with six tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery.
Nehemiah McCain led the Panther offense with 62 yards on 11 carries.
Myers ‘A’ 36, Little Elm 8
Jordyn Baiely ran for a touchdown and caught a TD pass as the Myers Titans defeated Little Elm.
Baiely ran 8 yards for a score and caught a 35-yard TD pass from Khalon Davis. Kalib Hicks scored on a 9-yard run, Davis had a 2-yard touchdown run and Mar’Quice Hill returned a fumble 50 yards for a score as Myers improved to 4-0.
Jaavone Jones led the Titans’ defensive effort with an interception.
Myers ‘B’ 6, Little Elm 0
Rashad Mitchell scored the only touchdown as Myers remained undefeated at 4-0 with a shutout of Little Elm.
Lake Dallas ‘A’ 26, McMath 22
Tristian Strange threw a pair of touchdown passes as the McMath Tigers suffered a hard-fought loss to Lake Dallas.
Strange hit Chucky Holbert with a 15-yard scoring toss and later connected with Bryce Ashbaugh on a 32-yard TD pass, with Jonathan Weaver adding the extra points. McMath’s other touchdown came on an 80-yard kickoff return by Coco Brown.
Harpool ‘A’ 20, Navo 0
The Harpool Longhorns got touchdowns from Caleb Rowe, Kegan Stelmazewski and Max Hornsby to remain undefeated at 4-0 with a win over Navo.
Rowe scored on a 27-yard run, Stelmazewski caught a 17-yard TD pass from Hornsby and the Longhorns closed out the scoring on a 5-yard run by Hornsby.
Elijah Stokes had a big game for Navo (1-3) with five tackles, two deflections and one forced fumble. Caleb Thomas also had five tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.
Maurice Bryant led the Panthers in rushing with 55 yards on eight carries.
Harpool ‘B’ 20, Navo 7
Corbin Mobley threw touchdown passes to Brady Gilbert and Evan Flores and Kyle Nichols ran 1 yard for a TD as Harpool (4-0) knocked off Navo.
Navo (1-2) scored on a 30-yard pass from Nicholas Johnson to Sebastian McClelland. Tristan Golliday led the Panthers’ defense with eight tackles and two forced fumbles, while Carmen Ward had three tackles and one interception. McClelland finished with three catches for 55 yards.
Lake Dallas ‘A’ 44, McMath 0
McMath saw its record slip to 0-4 with a shutout loss to Lake Dallas.
Tre’ Bates led the Tiger defense with three tackles, and Hayden Gunter had one tackle, one sack and a blocked extra point. On offense, Jason Neal had 35 yards in receptions, Taylor Brown had 20 yards rushing and Milford Kamara had 20 yards receiving to go with a 45-yard kickoff return.
