The Harpool Lady Longhorns eighth-grade "A" team jumped out to an early advantage against Crownover and increased that lead in each quarter to score a 54-19 victory and improve to 11-2 and 7-0 in district play Thursday night.

Alisa Williams led Harpool with 23 points while Haley Mason had eight points and three steals, Carrie Aune had four points and 10 rebounds and Sissly Stephens and Haden Colson had six points apiece.

Trinity Cox led Crownover (3-4) with five points.

The Lady Longhorns built an 11-point first-quarter lead in the B-team game and rolled to a 48-27 win against Crownover. Harpool (6-0) was led by Laura Avila with 13 points, Mia Ferrara with 11 and Avery Hallmark and Kelsey Large with six points apiece.

Alexandra Gilmore led the Lady Cowboys (4-2) with 10 points.

In the C-team game, Harpool's defensive pressure in the second half led the Lady Longhorns to an 18-8 win. Riley Pitillo led the Lady Longhorns (4-1) with five points while Olivia Watson and Grace Brown had four apiece. Anaiyah Tarrant had four points to lead Crownover.

Calhoun boys at McMath

After a sluggish start, the McMath Tigers rallied to defeat Calhoun 44-20.

Calhoun led 11-8 after the first quarter, but McMath held the Cougars scoreless in the second quarter to take a 22-11 lead and pulled away in the second half.

Ryan Cooper led McMath with 12 points, Baylor Battles had 10 and Darreon Lewis eight for the Tigers (2-5).

McMath dominated the B-team game from start to finish to take a 56-10 win against Calhoun. Dominic Wilson had 17 points and David Johnson and Ryan Wilkins had 12 apiece as the Tigers improved to 4-3.

Calhoun did not submit a game report.

McMath girls at Calhoun

Abby Folsom scored 11 points as the McMath Lady Tigers rallied from an early deficit to defeat Calhoun 25-16.

Avery Ruiz scored six points and Kanisia Haley had four as the Lady Tigers improved to 5-2.

In the B-team game, McMath held Calhoun scoreless for two quarters and rolled to a 37-4 win. Abby Cole scored 14 points, Kalyn Cardona had 10 and Allie Stidham seven for the Lady Tigers (5-2).

McMath girls at Calhoun

The McMath Lady Tigers used big second- and third-quarter scoring outputs to break open a close game en route to a 34-12 victory against the Calhoun Lady Cougars.

The Lady Tigers (3-4) held a 4-2 lead after the first quarter before outscoring Calhoun 21-8 over the next two. Kendyle Hall led the scoring for McMath with 15 points, Monique Martinez had six and Maggie Wainscott finished with five.

Calhoun did not submit a game report.

Noah Rodriguez scored 14 and Bryce Ashbaugh added 11 as the McMath Tigers defeated Calhoun 46-21. Tristian Strange scored six points and Miles Meador added five as McMath improved to 4-3.

The Tigers raced out to a nine-point first-quarter lead and coasted to a 35-18 win against Calhoun in the B-team game. DJ Woodson led the scoring for the Tigers (2-5) with 11, and Nick Iaia and Dominic Alvardo had eight apiece.

McMath used a fourth-quarter rally to take a 26-25 victory against Calhoun in the C-team game, as Dylan Meseberg led the Tigers (2-5) with 10 points.

Crownover boys at Harpool

In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Crownover Cowboys used a big second-quarter burst to secure the lead and went on to a 51-40 victory against the Harpool Longhorns.

The Cowboys (7-0) outscored Harpool 13-4 in the second quarter to take a 22-12 lead and were able to maintain the advantage as Harpool dropped to 6-1.

Ivan Pena led Crownover with 19 points and Connor Newton added 15.

Jadyn Fritch scored 10 points, Alex Cedillo had eight and Blaine Bird and Isiah Pride had six apiece as Crownover defeated Harpool 42-9 in the B-team game.

Crownover completed the sweep by using a fourth-quarter rally to score a 14-10 win in the C-team game. Gage Powell led Crownover with four points.

Harpool girls at Crownover

The Harpool Lady Longhorns used a fierce second-quarter rally to erase a nine-point Crownover lead and went on to defeat the Lady Cowboys 41-38 to remain unbeaten at 13-0.

Sophia Placke led the Lady Horns with 16 points, Madison Lumsden had nine and Raina Akbar seven.

Kyndal Stowers led the Lady Cowboys (5-2) with nine points, Hailey Evans added eight and Teyha Pitts, Kaylie Morgan and Mariah Watson had seven apiece.

In the B-team game, the Lady Cowboys rallied from a 12-point deficit before suffering their first loss, 23-18 to Harpool. Hannah Haddad led Crownover (6-1) with six points.

The Longhorns remained unbeaten at 7-0, as Abigail Holder led the scoring with eight and Abby LoBello had seven.

Harpool won the C-team game 8-6, handing Crownover its first loss. Anna Woodfin, Jade Bello, Marci Welmer and Destiny Meria had two points apiece for the Lady Longhorns (6-1). Landry Sokolosky led Crownover (6-1) with four points.
