GODLEY — The offensive output of Alyssa David and Shelby Malone elevated Pilot Point’s play on Thursday in day one of the Godley tournament. On the day, David posted 36 kills while Malone had 30 as the Lady Bearcats went 2-1 to up their record to 12-11 for the season. Malone also had 41 digs to lead the team for the day.
Pilot point won its first two matches against Northside (25-15, 25-14) and Peaster (25-18, 14-25, 25-15) before falling short against Maypearl in three sets (25-23, 22-25, 25-14).
The Lady Bearcats continue play in the Godley tournament through the weekend.
Liberty Christian rebounds to defeat Prince of Peace
The Lady Warriors rebounded from a dropped first set to win the match against Carrollton Prince of Peace in four sets (18-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-20).
Madison Morrow led Liberty Christian as she was effective from every position on the court, ending the contest with 13 kills, five aces and 11 digs in the win. Reagan Fifer and Kaley Janusek had nine kills each while Bailey Shiflet led the passing with 34 assists.
Aubrey opens Argyle tournament strong
ARGYLE — The Lady Chaparrals put together a solid 2-1 opening day at the Argyle tournament. Aubrey defeated Argyle’s JV (23-25, 25-17, 25-17) and Cleburne (25-21, 25-22), with a defeat to Frisco Heritage (20-25, 25-13, 25-14) sandwiched between the two victories.
Sydney Garrison led the Lady Chaparrals (14-10) in each match on offense, ending the day with 32 kills. Laney Roose led the team on defense, finishing the day with 41 digs, and Gracie Bells led Aubrey in assists with 52.
The Lady Chaparrals continue their play in the Argyle tournament through the weekend.
