One of the most explosive players in the Denton area has chosen his college home.
Guyer senior KyeRon Lindsay announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon his commitment to UNLV. Lindsay revealed his commitment in a video, where someone asks him, “Hey Kye, where you going?”
Lindsay then throws down a two-handed dunk, unzips a jacket to reveal a UNLV shirt and replies, “Vegas, baby. Let’s get this show on the road.”
A four-star prospect according to 247Sports, Lindsay is the 11th ranked Texas prospect in the Class of 2022. In addition to UNLV, Lindsay held offers from Georgia, Tennessee and Oklahoma State, among others.
“I knew as soon as Kye was able to play in front of college coaches again the offers would come rolling in,” Guyer coach Grant Long said. “He is such a unique talent that changes the game in so many ways. I’m so proud of him as a basketball player and a young man. He will do special things at UNLV, and I look forward to having a great senior year with him at Guyer!”
As a junior last season, Lindsay averaged a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The high-flying 6-8 forward was the Denton Record-Chronicle’s 2020 Impact Player of the Year, shooting 49.3% from the field while also averaging two steals and two blocks per game.
Lindsay will anchor what is expected to be a talented Guyer team later this fall, with many key players from last season’s team also returning.
