Guyer coach

Guyer coach Rodney Webb celebrates with his team after the Wildcats beat Ryan on Sept. 3.

Ahead of Guyer’s tilt with No. 4 Humble Atascocita on Friday, the Wildcats have risen to No. 5 in the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class 6A rankings.

Guyer was ranked No. 7 last week and is coming off a 37-6 drubbing of Mansfield Lake Ridge.

The Wildcats have started the season 3-0 due in large part to their dominant defense. Guyer is only giving up an average of 10 points and 219.7 yards per game.

Across town at Ryan, the Raiders remain DCTF’s No. 1-ranked team in Class 5A Division I. The Raiders knocked off Frisco Reedy 28-10 last week.

In Argyle, the Eagles retained their spot atop DCTF’s Class 4A Division I poll. Argyle has been the No. 1-ranked team since the preseason and has done nothing but dominate through the first three weeks.

The Eagles smothered 4A Division II No. 3 Celina 23-0 last week.

Argyle will travel to take on Waco La Vega this Friday. The Pirates are the No. 7-ranked team in 4A Division I.
