Ousmane's big game leads UNT to 69-65 win

HUNTINGTON, West Virginia — The North Texas men's basketball team beat Marshall Thursday night 69-65 on the road behind a career performance from sophomore Abou Ousmane.

The Mean Green big man scored a career-high 22 points and had a career-high 11 rebounds to lead UNT to the four-point win and improve the team's conference record to 3-1.

"I'm proud of Abou and all the guys for finding a way to win in a real tough environment," said coach Grant McCasland. "We had lots of guys step up in key moments for us down the stretch."

Along with Ousmane's big game, fifth-year senior Thomas Bell stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 12 rebounds, a career-high five assists and three blocks, including one with 20 seconds left in the game.

In total, five Mean Green players scored in double figures as North Texas (10-4, 3-1 C-USA) picked up the road conference victory and has now won eight of their last nine.

UNT plays next on Saturday at Western Kentucky. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
