ROBINSON - Calvary saw its successful season come to an end Friday night in the semifinals of the TAPPS Class 3A state tournament.
Midland Classical Academy jumped out to a 10-point, first-quarter lead and rolled to a 58-38 victory and a berth in Saturday's championship game.
Calvary (22-9), which had cruised through the first two rounds of the tournament with double-digit wins against Dallas Covenant and Dallas Yavneh Academy, never could get on track against Midland. The Lady Knights (21-8) opened up a 18-8 first-quarter advantage and extended the lead to 42-20 at halftime.
Calvary outscored Midland 18-16 in the second half, but the damage was already done.
Midland shot 48 percent from the floor for the night while holding the Lady Lions to 36 percent.
Gracie Sammons led Calvary in scoring with 10 points while Maddie Rollins, Jacklyn Wickersham, Kinley Thompson and Macie Evans had five points each.
