Denton scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a three-run, walk-off home run by sophomore Justin Rumfield, to stun The Colony 4-3 on Tuesday night in District 8-5A play.

The Broncos, who fell behind after the Cougars scored three unearned runs in the fifth, did all their damage at the plate off Dallas Baptist signee Shay Hartis. Mason Davis opened the inning with a leadoff single, Christian Herry drew a one-out walk and Caden Greanead had an RBI single before Rumfield’s homer to left field kept Denton’s perfect district record intact.

Greanead pitched five innings and gave up seven hits and three unearned runs with five strikeouts before Braden Sweeten finished things off and got the win with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Broncos, who improved to 12-8 on the season and 5-0 in 8-5A play, will close out a two-game series against The Colony at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
