CELINA — Argyle picked up two wins to open the Collin County Tournament, beating Frisco Liberty 4-0 and San Angelo Central 8-4 on Thursday.

Tate Van Poppel had seven strikeouts in six innings in the win over Liberty, while Hayden Clearman led from the plate by going 2-3 with two RBIs.

Chad Ricker had nine strikeouts in just over five innings against Central, while Bo Hogeboom led from the plate with a two-run single in the bottom of the third.

Argyle will continue play Friday with games against The Colony and Frisco Centennial.

Sean Gamble had three strikeouts in the victory. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when Tyler Huneycutt drove in Dylan Bivins.

Hurst L.D. Bell tournament

EULESS — Lake Dallas split two games to open the Hurst L.D. Bell tournament, falling to Hebron 6-1 and beating Euless Trinity 5-1.

Lake Dallas took an early lead off a Hebron passed ball in the top of the second but gave up four runs in the same inning. Ben Price led Lake Dallas with two hits and scored its lone run.

Lake Dallas fell behind early against Trinity but came back strong behind Hayden Payne, who had six strikeouts and allowed just two. It was an all-around hitting effort for the Falcons, with Connor Perry, Kyle York, Hunter McDaniel and Austan Williams all bringing in one run.

Lake Dallas will play Friday against Bell and Mansfield Summit.

Krum tournament

KRUM— Krum split two games to open its home tournament, beating Sweetwater 14-0 and losing to Paris 3-2.

Cole Lee had four strikeouts and allowed one hit in four innings against Sweetwater, while going 2-for-2 at the plate and knocking in three runs.

Krum trailed 3-0 against Paris before adding two bases-loaded walks in the third and leaving the tying and go-ahead runs on base.

Krum will continue play Friday against Benbrook.

AJ Prince led the effort against Pilot Point with two RBIs, while Jaeger Self and Gage Gray each had one. Gray added another two in the win over Howe.

BELLS — Ponder opened the Bells tournament with an 11-3 loss to Bells before picking up a 7-4 win over Denison.

Ponder fell to an early deficit against Bells but was able to pull within one in the third on a two-run double from Logan Ivy.

Zeke Vetrano had three strikeouts and allowed only two hits in five innings against Denison, while Payton Smith led from the plate with a three-run double in the bottom of the first to give Ponder the lead.

Ponder will continue play Friday against Bonham and McKinney Christian.

BOWIE — Sanger won its first game of the American Cancer Society Tournament 5-4 over Peaster.

Sanger led 5-3 going into the bottom of the fifth, and despite giving up one run, Cade Hamilton recorded a save for the Indians.

Hamilton went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI, while Hagen Coin had a two-run triple.
