Aubrey running back Braylon Colgrove has been named the Denton Record-Chronicle's Football Player of the Week, as voted on by DRC readers.

Colgrove rushed for 149 yards and scored on two 62-yard touchdown runs despite the Chaparrals' 49-14 loss to Celina. Colgrove received 46.7% of the total vote, garnering 148 of the 316 total ballots cast. Many of the votes in Colgrove's favor were cast in the final 24 hours or so that the poll was open, as both Michael Gee from Ryan and Argyle's Jett Copeland were the top two vote-getters as of early Tuesday morning. Copeland finished second overall with 71 votes. Gee was one vote behind at 70.

Guyer's Jackson Arnold and Pilot Point's Wyatt Smith were also up for consideration for this week's Player of the Week.

Nominees were chosen based on their performances from the previous week's games.

Colgrove and Aubrey will be in action on Friday as they host Sanger at Chaparral Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

Check back next Monday to vote on the DRC's next Football Player of the Week.
