Texas Tech signee Dillon Carter was the co-player of the year in Class 4A, while skipper Ricky Griffin earned coach of the year honors. The Eagles had four players selected to the first team, two to the third team and one honorable mention. Argyle went 40-1-1 this past spring to capture its second straight state championship.

HUGS go to ... local artist Jason Lee, who handily airbrushed the unitards of the performers of Cats, which opened Friday at the Campus Theatre. Many of the stripes, spots and color washes on the Jellicle cats were created by Lee. This weekend’s run of the Denton Community Theatre show is sold out.
HUGS go to ... the University of North Texas football team, which practiced on its new outdoor grass field for the first time this week. The field was installed this summer in the space next to the Lovelace and McNatt Families Practice Facility and is part of the overall complex. The field is just another example of how UNT donors are contributing to the advancement of the UNT athletic department’s programs.
