Half of a water tower on the northwest end of Loop 288 in Denton is wet from rain, illustrating incoming storms from the south in December.

The National Weather Service can help you be better prepared for severe weather season at its upcoming storm spotter class on Saturday, March 2, in Denton.

Anyone is welcome to attend and learn more about recognizing severe weather during two sessions that run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Texas Woman's University Multipurpose Classroom and Laboratory Building, 1314 Bell Ave. People who complete the entire day's training will learn how they can be part of the storm spotter network.

The class is part of an annual preparedness campaign in 46 North and Central Texas counties. Other classes can be found at weather.gov/fwd/skywarnsch?sptrsch.

The class is free and no advance registration is necessary.
