The University of North Texas System Board of Regents approved the budget for the upcoming fiscal year and plans for a new UNT at Frisco campus during a meeting Friday in Fort Worth.
The board took action on seven items that were discussed in the board meeting Thursday.
The budget approval means the green light for UNT officials to create new student success initiatives, fund more mental healthcare on campus and merit raises for some faculty and staff members. Officials project the school will have an additional $42.5 million in revenue this upcoming academic year.
Additionally, this vote solidified plans for new construction for the UNT branch campus in Frisco. Officials still think construction will start late next year, and the campus will welcome students for the first time in January 2023.
