The board of directors for the United Way of Denton County approved a $2.4 million budget for 2019-20, including $1 million in grants to its 17 nonprofit “partner agencies.”
In addition to the grants, the board designated significant funding to continue its agency initiatives addressing the needs of children and families, veterans, homelessness and mental health.
Despite the community’s generosity in the United Way’s recent fundraising campaign, the agency’s available funds fell 40 percent below the requests, according to an agency press release.
The agency’s annual funding comes from corporate gifts and employee giving campaigns, special events, state and federal grants and individual donations. More information is available at unitedwaydenton.org.
