A thunderstorm approaches Wednesday night.

County emergency management officials report this morning that damage from the storm that rolled through Denton County overnight was minimal, but rain totals and minor flooding were worse than expected.

Parts of northwest Denton County received 5 to 7 inches of rain, according to Jody Gonzalez, the county's emergency manager. Denton Enterprise Airport reported 1.88 inches of rain through 7 a.m. Thursday.

County officials have closed several northwest area roads due to high water, including Rector Road, Jackson Road (east and west), Eakin Cemetery Road, C. Wolfe Road and Old Alton Road.
