Volunteers remove trash from Pecan Creek in southern Denton on Saturday during the city's annual Stream Clean.

On Saturday, volunteers in Denton came out to various polluted waterway locations, including Camp Copass, to pick up trash for the annual Denton Stream Clean.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the event’s volunteers collected 4,850 pounds of trash. The amount of garbage collected this year weighed 1,874 pounds more than the previous year.

According to Sarah Luxton, the city of Denton's sustainability coordinator, volunteers gathered 335 bags of trash, 142 bags of recyclables and 60 large items.
