Serve Denton has become the first nonprofit in the city to obtain a certificate in the use of data in decision making from the Center for Nonprofit Management, the organization announced Tuesday.
The certification recognizes strategic use of data and communication with stakeholders, a nod to Serve Denton’s development of a data analytics system aimed at making services more accessible through its nonprofit partners. The CNM Certified program ensures clients are using a valid methodology for data collection and reporting, as well as using data to make informed decisions and continuously improve programming.
“We want to know what we’re doing works. Being CNM Certified means that we’ve developed a robust system, so we know if our efforts are working to help our partners and community or not,” Serve Denton CEO Pat Smith said. “No more guessing; we’re working off of real numbers.”
