City crews are closing Mills Road, near Ryan High School, beginning Monday for major drainage and utility improvements.
Weather permitting, the project will be finished and the road reopened by Aug. 1.
The city is installing a new storm drain and inlets, moving the waterline and then laying new asphalt at the intersection with Mayhill Road.
The closure is expected to allow crews to work more quickly and safely.
Drivers can detour via East McKinney Street and South Trinity Street. The current closure on East McKinney is for work that is expected to be finished by noon Friday.
