Relay For Life of Denton County will celebrate its 25th anniversary with its 2019 Relay, set for 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St.
Since 1994, the Denton County Relay For Life has raised more than $2.6 million to help attack cancer. The free family event, part of a global movement, celebrates cancer survivors and is led by committed volunteers.
Funds raised at the events will fund cancer research, education and American Cancer Society programs to lead to a world without cancer.
Founded by Gordy Klatt, M.D., in 1985 in Tacoma, Washington, Relay For Life now involves 3.5 million participants across the world at more than 4,500 events to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost and take action for lifesaving change. Since 1985, Relay For Life events in the U.S. have raised more than $6.3 billion.
