The Denton Record-Chronicle and North Texas Television have agreed to a revitalized partnership in which more videos produced by the student journalists at ntTV will appear on DentonRC.com and the newspaper’s Facebook page.
The videos, which began appearing Tuesday on the Record-Chronicle’s website, will help expand the newspaper’s coverage of Denton County, primarily the University of North Texas, while also offering the students added exposure and experience.
“The opportunity to work with the Denton Record-Chronicle is an exciting one for our students,” Phyllis Slocum, station manager for ntTV and principal lecturer in UNT’s Department of Media Arts, said in an emailed statement. “It underscores the evolution in media by combining print, video, audio and online in ways that help our audience. The DRC support means so much to our students both personally and professionally.”
Each semester, ntTV airs 10 to 15 student-produced programs, totaling over 100 hours of original content. The video segments produced by ntTV will run both separately from Record-Chronicle content and also as complementary elements to that produced by the newspaper staff, such as sports and coverage of UNT events.
All ntTV videos featured on the Record-Chronicle website can be found at www.dentonrc.com/education/nttv.
