OAK POINT — Law enforcement authorities are on the scene investigating a report of a possible murder-suicide that occurred earlier Saturday in the 8700 block of Sage Brush Trail in the Cross Oak Ranch development, between Cross Roads and Oak Point.

The Oak Point Department of Public Safety confirmed on social media that two people died. The victims were identified by a family member as Maria and Donald Nelson, ages 44 and 48.

Maria Nelson’s mother, Charlotte Wright, and other family and close friends were at the scene awaiting information from officials Saturday afternoon.

Wright said she learned what happened at around 7 a.m. Oak Point police said the incident appears to be a domestic issue, but would not release any more information.

Jail bond records show Donald Nelson was arrested in January on a weapons charge. The case is pending.

Reports indicate four other people — ages 1, 2, 15 and 26 — reside in the home. It was not clear whether any of them were inside the house at the time of the incident.
