A man was found dead at a gas well site near Ponder on Wednesday morning.
The Denton County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday from a caller who said they found an unresponsive man at the site in the 1400 block of FM2449.
Roland Asebedo, the assistant chief of Denton County Emergency Services, said the man had been dead for some time before he was discovered Wednesday morning. Asebedo said authorities believe some cables broke and struck the man.
The authorities have not released the man’s name or age. Asebedo said he didn’t know what exactly the man was doing when the cables broke at the site. Notes from the initial call do not indicate who called 911 to report they found the man. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified about the man’s death.
