The man who was arrested Thursday night at the end of an hourslong standoff with Denton police was given another charge after he was booked into the Denton City Jail, police said Friday.
Police were originally called to the Providence Village Apartments in the 2400 block of Stockbridge Road on a domestic disturbance call but eventually arrested 30-year-old Robert Smith on an outstanding warrant.
After booking Smith into the jail, officers charged him with injury to an elderly person causing bodily injury, Denton police spokeswoman Allison Vetere said Friday.
Vetere said officers saw injuries on Smith’s mother. Vetere did not say specifically how the woman was injured, only saying that officers photographed the woman’s injuries.
Smith was in the Denton County Jail on Friday. His bail was set at $22,500, jail records showed.
