Ribbon-cutting set

for hike-and-bike trail

Lake Dallas city officials and the Denton County Transportation Authority invite the public for a ribbon-cutting and community bike ride along the recently completed DCTA rail trail on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The hike-and-bike trail runs much of the length of the A-train line from Denton to southern Lewisville.

The ribbon-cutting is scheduled at 11 a.m. with a community bike ride to follow. Lake Dallas police are offering a bike safety training class at 10:15 a.m. and the city is offering a chance to win free bicycle helmets. Velo Republic Bicycle Company is offering free bike safety checks and minor repairs.

Festivities include food, vendors and activities from 10 a.m. to noon at Lake Dallas City Hall, 212 Main St.
