The new administration building is going up on South Loop 288 next to several other Denton County government buildings in a campus-like development that includes landscape features and room for outdoor events. The Texas Department of Transportation told the project architects that it wouldn’t be possible to build another entrance to the campus for the building because it would be too close to Karina and Morse streets and cause traffic problems.
Therefore, the architects designed the new building to face Karina Street, which is its main driveway entrance. The design helps people find their way to the front door of the building.
In addition, the building’s orientation minimizes the sun exposure to the east and west, which should help save costs in cooling the building.
