A Harrison County elections officials holds a selection of mail-in ballots to be counted.

Not if you already made an application this year. Mail-in ballot applications are good for one year.

People with disabilities or who are age 65 and older may cast all of their ballots by mail. The Denton County Elections office encourages voters to renew the applications in January and automatically sends ballots for each election throughout the year.

For example, the first round of mail-in ballots for the May 4 election went out on April 2, said Frank Phillips, Denton County elections administrator.

But if you have not yet applied for a mail-in ballot, the deadline is April 23. Typically, the application form supplied by candidates is acceptable.

Completed mail-in ballots must be returned to the elections office by 7 p.m. May 4.
