Project Public Health Ready has recognized Denton County Public Health for its ability in planning for, responding to and recovering from public health emergencies, according to a news release.

DCPH is currently the only health department in North Texas with this recognition and joins seven other departments in the state with the recognition.

The recognition from PPHR “confirms DCPH has a thorough and coordinated emergency response plan in place and staff have training to protect the health of their community during an emergency,” according to the release.

PPHR, a collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Association of County and City Health Officials, is a “criteria-based training and recognition program that assesses local health department capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies,” according to its website.
