Day of Concern

Denton City Council member Keely Briggs, standing in for Mayor Chris Watts, announces the results for the annual Mayor's Day of Concern for the Hungry Food Drive to the crowd last year at the Denton County Historical Park. The drive helps restock area food pantries for the summer.

The eighth annual Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry will take place June 15-26, when residents and businesses are encouraged to donate food and money to the United Way of Denton County, according to a city news release.

The food drive helps restock area food pantries for the summer.

The city says about 159,000 people in Denton County suffer from food insecurity, and about 46% of Denton ISD students are on reduced-priced lunches.
