Major public works projects planned for the south side of downtown and the Magnolia and Denia neighborhoods need more public input.

The city's engineering department has scheduled neighborhood meetings for each of the projects in the coming weeks. All the meetings will be run open-house style from 6 to 8 p.m.

The scheduled meetings are:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St. — Pecan Creek drainage improvements for downtown's south side (south of Hickory Street and north of Eagle Drive), including Wainwright, Prairie, Elm and Locust streets.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 12, at North Lakes Recreation Center, 2001 W. Windsor Drive — Pecan Creek drainage improvements in the Magnolia neighborhood, including Windsor and Hinkle drives. Both roads will also be rebuilt.
  • Thursday, Dec. 13, at Denia Recreation Center, 1001 Parvin St. — north-south water main installed along Bonnie Brae Street.
