Chandler Desurne, meets his adopted mixed-pitbull, Diesel, at the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center during Clear the Shelter Day in 2017.

Volunteers and city employees invite Denton residents to help them "clear the shelter" Saturday.

The Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center is participating in the nationwide event for the third consecutive year. All adoption fees will be waived and adoption packages include pet spay or neuter, shots and microchipping.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the first two hours of the event, the Denton Animal Support Foundation is also underwriting free rabies vaccines for all pet owners.
