The Denton County Transportation Authority announced that an autonomous vehicle testing program comes to an end this Friday in Frisco.

Eight months ago, DCTA partnered with the city of Frisco and developers, including Frisco Station Partners, Blue Star/The Star and Hall Group/Hall Park, as the Frisco Transportation Management Association with, a self-driving vehicle startup.

About 5,000 people rode in the self-driving vehicles during the eight-month test period.

According to a DCTA news release, the Frisco TMA partnership considered the test a success and will continue to work together on transportation issues in the city.
