Bikers test out the rail trail during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in September near Lake Dallas City Hall. The hike-and-bike trail runs much of the length of the A-train line from Denton to southern Lewisville.

On Saturday morning, April 13, DCTA and the cities of Denton, Lake Dallas, Corinth, Highland Village and Lewisville will join the the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's nationwide "opening day" for trails celebration.

Residents are encouraged to walk, bike, run or just spend time enjoying the beautiful scenery on the trail between 9 a.m. and noon. City-hosted fun stations will pass out free items at the Downtown Denton Transit Center, the Corinth City Hall parking lot, the Lake Dallas greenspace behind Allsup’s convenience store and the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake station.

In addition, DCTA is providing free A-train rides to all attendees. Just say the event code word “Opening Day” to a DCTA rail operator to ride the A-train free all day April 13.
