University of North Texas police said Wednesday that they had identified a man responsible for sexually assaulting two students on campus in separate incidents.

University police issued a crime alert about the incidents Wednesday afternoon.

Officers learned Sunday of a sexual assault that took place in September in West Hall, an on-campus student residence hall. The victim was acquainted with the attacker, police said.

Following that report, police said a female student reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance Sept. 22 in her room, also located in West Hall.

UNT police said an investigation led them to determine that both assaults were committed by the same man, and that he is not affiliated with the university.

Police barred the man from returning to the Denton campus.

It is unclear whether any charges have been filed against the man, whom police did not name. UNT police could not immediately be reached for comment but said in the alert that the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the cases is asked to contact Detective Misha Stephens at 940-565-3006 and refer to case No. 0501019.
