Other reports

1700 block of South Loop 288 — Police arrested an allegedly drunken man early Monday who fell asleep at the wheel while in a Whataburger drive-thru, according to a police report.

An employee at the Whataburger on Loop 288 called 911 around 4:20 a.m. to report a man was unconscious in the drive-thru. The driver was allegedly asleep at the wheel as the car was running and had his foot on the brake.

The report says police reached through the open window to turn off the car and woke the man up, who then “seemed very surprised.” He alleged he had two beers earlier in the night and said he had a pistol in a bag next to him in the car.

Police determined he was intoxicated and seized the gun. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The report says they first took him to a hospital because he consented to a blood draw, but he later revoked his consent so police obtained a warrant for a blood specimen.

Spencer Road and South Loop 288 — A 47-year-old man who allegedly jaywalked Monday morning also had a drug that’s classified as a dangerous drug if it’s possessed by someone without a prescription, according to a police report.

Police on patrol saw the man crossing Loop 288 from the middle of the road around 10:22 a.m. After turning on their vehicle lights and sirens, the man allegedly looked at them but continued to cross.

While crossing, he was almost struck by two other drivers, according to the report. When police caught up to him, he alleged he didn’t jaywalk and refused to give police his identifying information before walking away. According to the report, police told him he wasn’t free to leave and he was evading them by walking away. He allegedly kept walking but police caught up with him and put him in handcuffs.

He was arrested and charged with evading arrest. At the jail, officers found a bottle containing benzodiazepine pills, which he didn’t have a prescription for. He was also charged with possession of a dangerous drug.
