Denton police arrested a mother and charged her with injury to a child after receiving a call Thursday about a child who sustained a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage, with evidence of previous head injuries, according to a news release.
Tania Rangel, who said the child had fallen and hit their head, was arrested and booked into the Denton City Jail on Friday with bail set at $500,000.
The child was flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where hospital staff determined the injuries were inconsistent with a fall and notified Child Protective Services, according to the news release.
An investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
5700 block of Mills Road — Neighbors of an elderly man called police Thursday night to report he was standing naked outside his mobile home, according to a police report.
The man was not being actively disruptive when police arrived. He was not charged and was transported by ambulance to a hospital, the report shows.
7500 block of Sunburst Trail — A 36-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home, stole her handgun and sent her a text message threatening to harm himself, according to a police report.
The gun was recovered and the man was charged with burglary of habitation, theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, the report shows.
3800 block of Sheraton Road — A woman called police Thursday night to report an unknown man circling her house for the second consecutive day, according to a police report. The woman drove to a nearby restaurant to wait for police, the report shows.
Police spoke with with the man, who told them he had turned onto the street to take a phone call. Police did not arrest or cite him but told him to stop using the street, the report shows.
2400 block of North Bell Avenue — A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly went to his cousin’s house, accused her husband of stealing something from him and threatened to kill him with a gun, according to a police report.
Police determined the man was in possession of a BB gun and charged him with making a terroristic threat, the report shows.
