Denton police said officers arrested a 26-year-old man Monday morning after they found him near a crashed motorcycle in the 100 block of Avenue A, according to a police report.
Police said the man was still at the scene when officers discovered the motorcycle. Police said nobody else was involved in the crash other than the man, who was was not injured.
The scene was in the Fry Street area, where a half-dozen bars are located. Officers found the crash at about 2:10 a.m. Monday.
Officers suspected the man of being intoxicated. After doing field sobriety testing, officers arrested the man and charged him with driving while intoxicated.
Police said the man “physically resist[ed] being placed inside of the patrol vehicle.” Officers took him to the Denton City Jail.
700 block of Fort Worth Drive — Denton police arrested one person Monday afternoon but a department spokeswoman could not confirm information about the person’s charges as of Tuesday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said the person was arrested while a warrant was being served as part of a narcotics investigation. A police report shows heroin, methamphetamine, pills and drug paraphernalia were also recovered by police, though the spokeswoman did not immediately confirm how much was recovered.
1000 block of Fort Worth Drive — Officers responding to a building alarm Monday morning said they saw a man cutting electrical wires before he took off running when the officers identified themselves as police, according to a police report.
After chasing the man, officers caught up to him and arrested him. He was charged with attempted burglary of a building and evading arrest or detention, the report shows.
From 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday:
- The Denton Police Department handled 176 service and officer-initiated calls and made eight arrests.
- Denton firefighters responded to 27 medical calls and four vehicle crashes.
