Denton police were called to a Denton emergency room where they found a man who told them he’d been assaulted by three males at about 4 a.m. Monday in the 1900 block of North Ruddell Street, according to a report.

Police noted the man had multiple lacerations on his head. Emergency room staff had called police after the victim arrived at the hospital.

The man told police the three approached him, kicked and punched him and stole his backpack, the report says. The report also states that the victim did not provide descriptions of the three men.

600 block of East Hickory Street Officers arrested a man after they found him unconscious inside his vehicle while it was parked on train tracks in downtown Denton at about 2:40 a.m. Monday, according to a police report.

Officers determined the man was intoxicated and took him to jail. During a search after his arrest, officers found less than a gram of methamphetamine on him, according to the report.

200 block of South Locust Street Police said a stone step was thrown into a glass door and 12 tablet computers and 10 radios were stolen sometime between about 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday from First United Methodist Church, according to a police report.

3000 block of North Locust Street A parent said his daughter’s bicycle was stolen from a bike rack at North Branch Library on Monday afternoon, according to a police report.

5000 block of East McKinney Street About 21 batteries were reported stolen from Denton ISD school buses Monday morning, according to a police report.

From 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday:

  • The Denton County Sheriff’s Office handled 1,115 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies it serves.
  • The Denton Police Department handled 178 service and officer-initiated calls and made 14 arrests.
  • Denton firefighters responded to 28 medical calls and four vehicle crashes.
