A Kroger story manager told police a man was drinking alcohol and driving a shopping scooter in the store and parking lot on Sunday morning, according to a police report.
Denton police arrived to find the man driving the scooter around the property in the 1500 block of South Loop 288. After interacting with him, officers determined the man was drunk, the report shows.
They arrested him and charged with him public intoxication and drove him to the Denton City Jail, records show.
Decatur man killed in U.S. 380 motorcycle crash
Royce Derrell Petty Jr., 52, was identified as the man killed following a Saturday afternoon traffic collision in unincorporated Denton County.
He was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton following a motorcycle crash in the 16400 block of U.S. Highway 380, south of Krum.
As a result of blunt force trauma sustained during the crash, Derrell died at roughly 4 p.m. Saturday, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Derrell was a Decatur resident.
2100 block of Savannah Trail — A couple in their 80s will not be charged with animal cruelty after authorities on Sunday found a baby raccoon inside a cage that was submerged in water, according to Denton police.
Residents nearby called the police to report they had found the raccoon trapped in the water. Denton Animal Services recovered the animal and the indication Monday was that it had survived.
A police spokeswoman said that due to the suspects’ age and “lack of knowledge” about what services are available on what to do with wild animals, they will not be charged or arrested.
2500 block of Louise Street — A woman was arrested for a warrant Sunday morning after she called to report she was in a physical altercation with a man, according to a police report.
8000 block of Montecito Drive — A 50-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with two counts of assault family violence after he allegedly grabbed his wife by the hair and pushed her against a wall and grabbed his daughter’s hair and arm and pushed her against a wall, according to a police report.
