Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County is one of the 200 finalists in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program.
The agency submitted the request to fund a new playground and courtyard at the center in Lewisville. The playground would have multi-level play equipment, large grassy areas, a basketball half-court and a covered play area.
The center responds to reports of severe child abuse and provides services to children and non-offending family members, including mental health care, family advocates and forensic interviewers.
Currently, the center offers free childcare while parents or family members are attending therapy or other services, but there's no outdoor play equipment.
The grant program has the public vote for finalists, and the top 40 will win $25,000 grants to fund their projects. To vote for CACDC, visit www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2023544. Winners will be announced Sept. 25.
