A caller told police Friday that several street signs near Broadway and Malone streets had been stolen, according to a police report.
The police report indicates the thefts happened Wednesday. Police said they’re reviewing footage from the area of the incidents. The city’s streets department was notified so the signs could be replaced, police said.
Old Town Road street signs have been reported stolen around the country this summer, seemingly because of rapper Lil Nas X’s song of the same name, but there is no Old Town Road in Denton.
1700 block of Village East Drive — A 27-year-old woman told police her estranged boyfriend punched her in the face Friday morning, according to a police report.
Police did not observe physical injuries on the woman. A report was taken.
300 block of West Eagle Drive — Police recovered a vehicle reported missing from Dallas around 4 a.m. Friday, according to a police report.
Officers were patrolling the area when they found the vehicle. They detained the two occupants and confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Dallas.
Police arrested the 54-year-old driver and let the passenger go.
1100 block of East McKinney Street — A 28-year-old man was arrested after a caller told police he seemed intoxicated and was acting “irate” in the area Friday morning, according to a police report.
Police determined the man was intoxicated and a danger to himself or others. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication, nonalcoholic.
9700 block of Amber Court — A 66-year-old man was taken to a local hospital after police responded to a domestic disturbance call.
Officers were dispatched to a home and spoke with both parties. They determined it was a medical call and paramedics were dispatched.
From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, the Denton Police Department handled 214 service and officer-initiated calls and made 16 arrests.
