A lawn mower reported stolen Friday morning in northern Denton was found about 2 miles away with someone who appeared to be transporting stolen goods in the 700 block of Rose Street, according to a police report.

Police responded to a suspicious person call Friday morning at a home on Rose Street. The caller believed a person at the residence was transporting stolen goods, according to the report.

An officer spoke with four people at the scene and asked about various items that were sitting in plain sight outside near a vehicle, according to the report.

One of the individuals, a 34-year-old man, told police he got copper wiring — one of the items — from his boss. Police confirmed the man had outstanding warrants and arrested him.

The report shows the other items, including a lawn mower, were not claimed by any of the other individuals.

Another officer at the police department informed the initial officer about a theft report they had just taken involving a lawn mower.

That report showed a 39-year-old man reported his lawn mower was taken from his vehicle overnight in the 300 block of Coronado Drive.

Police determined the lawn mower matched the theft report and called the owner to retrieve it.
