Police were dispatched Friday morning to the intersection of State School Road and South Interstate 35E after receiving multiple calls about a man punching a woman inside a vehicle, according to a police report.
The 24-year-old victim told police she dropped off her children at child care. The 25-year-old man with her was the children’s father. She said he was in the vehicle with her and refused to leave, the report shows.
Police said the discussion turned physical after the man became agitated and started to strike the victim with his fist while she was driving. She also told police the man used both hands to choke her while she was driving.
The report says she eventually stopped driving and the man got out of the vehicle. She started to drive again only to stop when he jumped on the moving vehicle.
She called police from a nearby gas station and then transported herself to a local hospital, according to the report.
The man was arrested and charged with assault family violence, impeding breath. He received an additional charge for possession of marijuana after telling officers he had some in his pocket. He also had three outstanding warrants from Corinth police.
100 block of Duchess Drive — A Lyft driver told police she believed a client was masturbating in the back seat of her vehicle Friday morning, according to a police report.
The driver said she noticed the client pulled his pants down and exposed himself, and she believed he was masturbating while she was driving. She ordered him to get out of her car, and he ran off.
The investigation is ongoing.
200 block of West Collins Street — Two people shattered a vehicle’s windows during a verbal argument, according to a police report.
A caller told police he and two friends got into a verbal altercation with two people they didn’t know at about 1 p.m. Friday. The pair shattered the back passenger side window and rear window of the caller’s vehicle during the argument.
The complainant told police repairs will cost about $1,000. A report was taken.
1100 block of Duncan Street — A 45-year-old woman was arrested early Friday on an assault charge after an argument with her boyfriend, according to a police report.
The man, 35, called police to tell them his longtime girlfriend was assaulting him. When officers arrived, they observed small scratches on his chest and red marks on his lips and left nostril, the report states.
Police said she admitted to hitting him, but stated she never struck him. She was arrested due to the injuries and charged with assault family violence.
From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, the Denton Police Department handled 189 service and officer-initiated calls and made 14 arrests.
